If you were thinking of adding a bit of gold bullion to your
retirement portfolio, now might be a good time to do it. Inflation
expectations have surged to their highest levels since before the Lehman
Brothers collapse. Government bonds are so expensive that when you deduct
taxes and inflation that you are actually paying Uncle Sam for the
privilege of lending him money. And meanwhile bullion is looking by some measures
remarkably cheap.
Ray Dalio, the hedge fund tycoon, allocates 7.5% of his famous “All Weather
Portfolio” to gold bullion, alongside the more usual stocks, bonds and
industrial commodities.
Another London fund, Ruffer Total Return, has 8%. Former SG Securities
strategist Dylan Grice once made the case for allocating 25% of your money
to gold.
And if that isn’t high enough, one of the smartest investment professionals
I know goes further. This guy—a pretty senior and well-respected figure in
the investment world—told me several years ago he kept a third of his
personal retirement portfolio in gold. The other two-thirds were in global
stocks. The stocks were for growth, he said. The gold was for insurance: In
case of “mistakes” — by the people who are supposed to be running the
world.
As I’ve said before, if Michael Cohen had made his secret payoffs with
American Eagle gold coins instead of cash or checks, he wouldn’t have ended
up in the big house.
Unlike ‘cryptocurrencies,’ gold has been around for a long time, the price
doesn’t tend to rise or fall 10% in a day—oh, and transactions don’t use
much energy.
The biggest appeal of gold in a portfolio is that it has a good chance of
holding up when stocks and bonds are losing money. For example, I ran the
numbers for the 1970s: Gold beat inflation in seven years out of 10. And
over the past 50 years, since the federal government stopped fixing the
gold price and let it trade freely, gold has earned a median return in any
given year of about 2.5% above the rate of inflation. Most important: It’s
had a low correlation with other assets. It’s zigged when stocks and bonds
have zagged.
What Wall Street doesn’t want to say is that today’s portfolio of stocks
and bonds look great by the record of the past 40 years. Since the early
80s both have gone up and up, and on the few occasions when stocks went
down, bonds went up even more.
But what if the future doesn’t look like the past 40 years? At other points
in history stocks and bonds have both lost value together. That’s what
happened in the late 1930s and 1940s, and again in the 1960s and 1970s.

Gold’s Inflation-Haven Appeal Means ‘Violent’ Run-Up May Be Ahead
Fri, October 22, 2021, 9:00 PM
(Bloomberg) -- One after another, commodities from aluminum to natural gas
have surged as pandemic aftershocks rattle supply chains. Gold could be
next, although for very different reasons.
That’s the view of two of the biggest names in Canadian mining -- the
former chiefs of Goldcorp Inc., David Garofalo and Rob McEwen -- who
predict investors will catch on soon that global inflationary pressures are
less transitory and more intense than central bankers and consumers price
indexes suggest.
When that realization sets in, gold’s inflation-protection appeal probably
will send prices to $3,000 an ounce, from about $1,800 now, according to
Garofalo, who ran Goldcorp before it was gobbled up by Newmont Corp. and
now heads Gold Royalty Corp. Such a run-up would be a “down-payment” to
McEwen’s $5,000 long term prediction.
“I’m talking about months,” he said. “The reaction tends to be immediate
and violent when it does happen. That’s why I’m quite confident that gold
will achieve $3,000 an ounce in months not years.”

CONSTITUTION "Upon
exiting the Constitutional Hall, Benjamin Franklin was asked by Mrs. Powell,
what is it that we have a monarchy or a republic? Franklin responded, 'A
Republic if you can keep it.'" "Those
who would surrender essential liberty for temporary security, will, in the end,
deserve neither liberty nor security." The
United States of America is not a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.
However, since we no longer stress the teaching of civics, many - young and old
- have no comprehension of what that means . . . to their own detriment. A
Republic such as America is rooted in the ideals of individual rights, freedom,
and liberty. The foundation of America is based upon the concept that the
individual is sovereign over the institution of government, and adherence to
the rule of law. It subscribes to the premise that government exists only with
the consent of the governed. "Governed," a very interesting word,
means our system of government is broken down into three respective branches:
Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Each of them have their respective duties
and responsibilities, and there are checks and balances on the powers of each.
These branches of government are charged to govern, not rule, and therein lies
our present predicament. Laws
are not being passed under the guise of an "emergency" or
"pandemic," which, when one assesses the facts, we are dealing with a
virus, not a disease, with a 99 percent recovery rate. Instead, we have the
executive branch going about issuing mandates, edicts, orders, and decrees
without the consent of the government. In other words, we are being ruled, not
governed. The
Real Sellouts Just
last week there were "Emergency Temporary Standards" issued by the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the Department of
Labor. This is the result of Joe Biden standing at a podium, in the middle of
the Afghanistan debacle, and decreeing "this is not about your
freedom," and issuing a nationwide mandate for all Americans to get a jab
in the arm. Now, I find that rather interesting because the hundreds of
thousands of illegal immigrants crossing into our Republic are not being
mandated to get this shot. By the way, Article 4, Section 4 of the US
Constitution is referred to as the "Guarantee Clause." This Biden
administration is in violation of our rule of law by unconstitutionally
implementing an open borders ideological agenda by Executive Order. The
Executive branch does not have the enumerated power to enact these actions. No
government agency has the power to dictate to the American people what must be
injected into their body under condition of employment. The Center for Disease
Control (CDC) does not have the power to tell renters they cannot collect their
rent. We are seeing a complete bypass of the elected representatives of the
people, the Legislative branch. When I am traveling through the airport and I
hear the recording about federal law mandates that every person must wear a
mask or else face fines and other penalties . . . when was this law passed? The
answer: there was never a law passed by the legislature of the United States on
the issue of mask wearing. Here in Texas we had an executive that made the
decision of who and what was essential. No elected official has the enumerated
power to decide who or what is essential. The most essential element in Texas,
America, is individual liberty. Yet,
we are watching that very vital aspect of our Constitutional Republic being
usurped by those hellbent on power and control. And, if We the People have no
right or say so as to our medical freedom, then what freedom do we have? Terry
McAuliffe already conveyed the progressive socialist leftist perspective on educational
freedom when he said that no parent has the right in deciding what their child
is taught. And, remember, Biden said the most disturbing words, "this is
not about your freedom." Biden also once quipped, "no Amendment to
the Constitution is absolute." These
are words that should send a chill down our spines. They are the words that
send a thrill up the leg of progressives, socialists, Marxists, statists, and
communists. Where
is the spirit of freedom and defiance? When you walk through the airport you
see nothing but complicit, subjects, not citizens, who understand their rights,
their liberty. We are slowly being converted into a massive collective, no
longer individuals. We are willingly participating in the grandest Pavlovian
experiment known to man. We are rewarding unconstitutional behavior by
surrendering our God given rights to totalitarianism, tyrants. We are sadly
exhibiting a lack of courage, character, to just say "no." I am
in search of those who will stand in righteous, Constitutional, defiance. I am
searching for citizens, and I am hoping to free the subjects, serfs, and those
who wish to regain their freedom. One of my American heroes is Rosa Parks, an
ordinary woman who on one day did an extraordinary thing: she said "no."
Rosa Parks would no longer be told she had to go to the back of the bus. Rosa
Parks understood she was a citizen, not a subject, and she took an act of
defiance, regardless of the consequences. Texans,
Americans, who among you will find your Rosa Parks moment? Who among you will
take a stand in defiance to being ruled? Who among you will realize that
"Fortune Favors the Brave" and that "Who Dares Wins?" Who
will embrace the understanding that "Fear is a reaction. Courage is a
decision?" Sir
Edmund Burke stated very well, "All that is necessary for the triumph of
evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing." I am
searching for Texas men and women who will take a place with me on freedom's
rampart, lock shields, and defend the honor of the Texas Republic . . . and
thereby inspire all Americans to do the same. My
intent is to govern, protecting Texas sovereignty and individual liberty . . .
not rule. Steadfast
and Loyal, Allen
