The Watchman On The Wall

The Watchman On The Wall
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Watchman Report Aug. 29, 2021 "Hillsdale College, Federalist Papers"

 Dear Watchman,

The events of the last year have no precedent in our nation’s history. They’ve shaken me, and I’m sure they’ve affected you as well.

Throughout it all, you may have noticed a recurring theme from the progressives in the media, Big Tech, and politics. They insist that the government designed by our Founding Fathers, as expressed in the Constitution, is flawed and outdated—not adequate for the challenges of our time.

How should defenders of the Constitution, like you and me, respond to such charges?

Well, a few early champions of the Constitution—Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison—have given you the guide: The Federalist Papers.

Written between October 1787 and August 1788 under the pen name Publius, The Federalist Papers were originally published as newspaper editorials intended to explain the merits of the Constitution.

Thomas Jefferson described The Federalist Papers as “the best commentary on the principles of government which ever was written.”

That means that defenders of the Constitution have no better help in understanding the principles of liberty underlying our Constitution than the words of the Founders themselves.

So, I’d like to send you our entire 10-lesson course, “The Federalist Papers,” on DVD today with a donation of $100 or more to Hillsdale College.
