The Watchman On The Wall

The Watchman On The Wall
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Verse 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Leftist Victim Mongers and Privilege

Dr. Christina H. Sommers
has this great series on various aspects of feminism and modern culture. I find her Factual Feminist videos to be very helpful in understanding modern feminism. She was first brought to my attention by the great PowerLine blog.
Dr. Sommers intrigued me recently with a foray into something called “Intersectional Feminism.” Though it sounds esoteric, intersectional feminism turns out to just be feminists intersecting with other types of social-justice warriors – leftist victim-mongers railing against “privilege.”
Clearly, feminism has become just another cause to jump the shark into the uncharted waters of Leftism. If feminism was ever really about equality, it is now about domination and control.
This is the pattern we find in all Leftist movements. Unsurprisingly, whatever their various grievances, their solution is always the same – themselves in power telling everyone else how to think and what to do.
Environmentalism, for example – the concept of care and conservation – has morphed into a Leftist political movement to dismantle civilization and keep most of the World’s poor impoverished in the name of Gaia.
Civil rights – the grand principle of equal opportunity and color-blindness – has, in the age of Obama, become a political means to control everything from education and employment to your neighborhood’s demographics.
Gay rights – the idea that someone should not be discriminated against because of their sexual preference – is used to bludgeon those who oppose things like “gay marriage” to act against their religious beliefs.
The Leftist redefinition of the word compassion is used to force us to grant asylum to anyone and everyone across our border.
Women’s rights, far afield of equal pay, is being used to force people to finance other people’s birth control and abortion. Ask the Little Sisters of the Poor.
This is what passes for “social justice” by the Left. Everything you have is a “privilege.” It doesn’t matter how you got it. Since there are others who can’t get it, you are privileged. If you won’t share it, it should be taken from you.
Essentially, Intersectionality is the matrix of victimhood that determines, from a social-justice perspective, who is worthy based on their hierarchy of identity-group privilege. To the worthy go the spoils.
So, who is worthy? When you get right down to it, as Dr. Sommers points out, it is impossible to tell. A white man has more privilege than a black woman, but a rich black woman has more privilege than a poor black man.
When these SJWs broke themselves up into groups based on their perceived level of privilege, they spent most of their time fighting – dividing themselves into smaller and smaller groups – male vs. female, black vs. white, rich vs. poor. Then there’s old, young, fat, thin, pretty, ugly, abled, disabled, fast, slow, witty, dull, charming, graceless, dyslexic, conservative …
I could have saved them a lot of time in this endeavor. If they were ever to factor intersectionality all the way out, dividing themselves into smaller and smaller groups, they would find that people are ultimately INDIVIDUALS.
The individual is the ultimate minority group. Every person has unique advantages and disadvantages, strengths and weaknesses, privileges and challenges to be overcome.
And so it is that justice is a concept that can only be applied to the individual. Meting out justice to a group always results in injustice to some of its members because its members are all different.
The concept of social justice is an oxymoron. Like mob justice – it’s not justice at all. But that won’t stop the SJWs. It’s almost like justice is not their real objective.
I have some singular advice for the SJWs. Though I know they haven’t asked for it and won’t take it. But here it is.
Quit dividing people into groups and pitting them against each other.
Just stop it. If diversity is strength, respect diversity and use it – including everyone, even people with whom you disagree. You can’t divide wealth into prosperity. Prosperity can only be built. It takes all of us working together.
You know, once upon a time, not a long ago, stereotyping was considered a bad thing. That made a lot of sense to me then. It makes even more sense to me now.
When I was in college, we believed in something like this:
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

For shame what this has since become.

Below, Bill Whittle has an excellent video on the so-called social warriors.
