Jeb Bush is laden with the burden of a bad family memory,
specifically, the memory of his brother's misadventures in Iraq. If Bush's goal
is to present himself as his 'own man,' his list of advisers undermines the
point: 19 of his 21 advisers worked in the administrations of his father or
brother.
This is a serious problem, because George Bush's Cabinet
members universally lied about why we needed to invade Iraq, thus putting in
motion a most devastating and needless war that wasted U.S. blood and treasure.
Since a President selects Cabinet members and advisers who share his values and
his goals, it is a serious matter when they come from such a soiled lot as
President George W. Bush's Cabinet.
Why would Jeb Bush allow himself to be tied tightly to
the same cast of characters who helped Bush lead America into a war under false
pretenses and presided over a disastrous occupation that cost trillions of
dollars, thousands of U.S. and Iraqi lives and destabilized the region.
The answer is simple: Jeb Bush supported his brother then
and he does now. Americans should ponder this question before they cast a vote
for Jeb Bush in November 2016.
