This picture of Islam is true to the historical nature of this religion. The only reason that Northern Africa and the Middle East are so dominantly Muslim is that, over the past 1,000 years, radical Islamic military forces purged the population of all Christians. We are seeing a repeat of history here. People all over the world are horrified by the pictures of Islam's brutality.

In Nigeria, the Sunni Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram seized almost 100 men and boys from a village very early in the morning, forcing them to climb into trucks and then carted them off.

The terrorist group Boko Haram has seized yet another major Nigerian town, killing at least 100 civilians in the process. Nigeria's Daily Post reports that Gwoza, one of the most populated areas in the northeastern Borno State, was seized by the group at dawn, who came in using armored tanks and Toyota Hilux pickup trucks. Local news agency Sahara Reporters says that the attack began at dawn, and the town was under Boko Haram control by late morning. Nigerian soldiers were reportedly outmatched by Boko Haram's sophisticated weaponry.

Men, women and children were targeted indiscriminately in the attack; the group also set shops and other buildings on fire and threw explosives at the local police. It's just the latest in the group's horrendous greatest-hits tour: the 200 Nigerian schoolgirls they kidnapped in April remain missing, and at the end of July they kidnapped the wife of the vice prime minister of Cameroon.

Nigeria either cannot or will not aggressively pursue this terrorist group. This mostly rag-tag terrorist organization, comprised of only a few hundred or a few thousand, has thrown the pro-western government of Nigeria into absolute turmoil.

ISIS has its sights set on destroying Biblical archaeology as well.

Last month, a new marauder descended on Nineveh and the nearby city of Mosul. He, too, came down like the wolf on the fold, but his cohorts brandished Kalashnikovs from pickup trucks, not shining spears; their banners were the black flags of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham ... the Mosul Museum was on the verge of reopening, at last, and the full collection had been stored there ... museum curators and staff were no better prepared than any other part of the Iraqi government ... it's not just the monumental sculptures that are in danger, but thousands of artifacts and, also, ancient manuscripts from the many cultures—Islamic, Christian, and pagan—that inhabited the region of Mosul when it sat astride the caravan route that led from the Far East into the Near East and Europe.

The war that is now unfolding in Iraq is something different, and something much scarier. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ... fighters aren’t killing for fun and profit, and they’re certainly not killing to protect themselves from other crazies. Instead, they are killing because they are utopians. In fact, utopians have murdered more people in history than any other group. We cannot calculate all the people the utopian Nazis and Communists murdered.They want to live in a world that is quite literally cleansed of those who do not share their deranged beliefs, and by killing Yazidis and Christians and members of other religious minorities, they believe that they are serving a noble and just cause.
