Ezekiel 38-39

Notice that Gomer, Tubal and Magog are all in Turkey

The purpose of my comments is to make people think about "End Times" scripture. In reference to the article below, my comments are in green. Many people focus on Russia's lead role in Ezekiel 38-39 and the article below focuses on that role, however, please notice that Gomer, Magog, Tubal are actually in modern day Turkey. Now, please do not misunderstand, Russia will play a vital role in this attack but I see Turkey as the main instigator. Russia will simply be forced to come to the aid of its allies. 

 

The Russian-led invasion of Israel is foretold in Ezekiel 38-39. Note the role Russia is prophesied to take in "End Times." I think it is important to note where these people were originally and the rising role of modern day Turkey in the Islamic world. 

Verses 1-2 -- "And the word of the Lord came to me: 'Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, of Meshech, and Tubal, and prophecy against him',"

The author states that this verse positively identifies the main protagonist in this invasion as Russia.

1. The word, "Rosh" is the old name for the country we now call "Russia".

2. The word, "Meshech" is the root form for the city, "Moscow" That may be but Meshech was originally in Asia Minor or modern day Turkey, see the first map above.

3. The word, 'Tubal" is the name of one of the main rivers of Russia and the Ukraine. The Tubal River is still one of the most significant rivers in the world. Again, that may be but Tubal was also in Biblical Asia Minor, see the map at the top. 

Verses 4-6 tell us that this is going to be a monstrous army. God uses words like "a great company", and "Gomer Gomer was also in Biblical Asia Minor or modern day Turkey.  and all his hordes", a "great host, a mighty army [Verse 15], to describe the size of this military force. This military force will appear to be invincible as it marches to the borders of Israel.

As God then lists the countries marching with Russia, note that most of them today practice Islam (in fact, by 2030 most of the Russian army may be Muslim because of the declining ethnic Russian birth rate.)

"And I will turn you back and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you forth and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them handling swords-- Persia, Cush, and Put or Libya with them, all of them with shield and helmet, Gomer and all his hordes, the house of Togarmah in the uttermost parts of the north and all his hordes--many people are with you."

Consider the modern names for these nations:

1) Persia is today's Iran

2) Cush is Ethiopia

3) Put is Libya

4) Togarmah is modern Turkey

Then, in verse 7, we see that God intends for Russia (Gog) to be the leader of this whole army:

"You [Gog] be prepared; yes, prepare yourself, you and all your companies that are assembled about you, and you be a guard and a commander for them."

Since the nations joining Russia on this invasion of Israel in the "End Times" will do so voluntarily, they must have confidence in the leadership capabilities of the Russian leaders and in their weaponry. If Russia cannot successfully defend Iran today against either Israel or America, do you think these Islamic countries are going to have confidence that Russia is the nation to lead them successfully against Israel at the End of the Age?

On the following point I agree with the author except I do not see any attack upon Iran by either Israel or the U.S. 

For this reason, I believe that any attack on Iran will have limited success, if not outright failure, and most definitely will not result in the regime overthrow of the hardline Iranian government. You might even see some unexpected Iranian peace overtures designed to placate President Bush and disarm his politically.

These are the most momentous of times, as prophecy is either being fulfilled or its stage is being set for fulfillment.

Are you spiritually ready? Is your family? Are you adequately protecting your loved ones? This is the reason for this ministry, to enable you to first understand the peril facing you, and then help you develop strategies to warn and protect your loved ones. If you are saved you should use your knowledge as a means of discussion with an unsaved person. As we approach the End Times when we can reach many souls for Jesus Christ, making an eternal difference.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, but have been very lukewarm in your spiritual walk with Him, you need to immediately ask Him for forgiveness and for renewal. He will instantly forgive you.

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, but have come to realize His reality and the approaching "End Times", and want to accept His free gift of eternal life, you can also do so now, in the privacy of your home. Once you accept Him as Savior, you are spiritually born again, and are guaranteed to go to heaven, in fact, spiritually you are already there. Furthermore, you can rest assured that the kingdom of antichrist will not touch you spiritually.
