Edom is in Red |
The Jerusalem Post reported on 4/10/2013 that Guatemala has
recognized Palestine as a state. The Guatemala's president's office said in a
statement on Tuesday that it decided to recognize the State of Palestine as a
free, sovereign and independent state in order to gain new momentum in the
Israeli-Palestinian peace process. The decision in no way alters Guatemala's
long tradition of friendship and cooperation with the State of Israel, a
relationship the Guatemalan government highly values.
One
can empathize with the desire of the Guatemalan President in hoping that he is
providing new impetus to the peace process by recognizing the Palestinian State
as a legitimate nation. However, the Palestinians are still teaching their
children that the Jews do not belong in the land and must be killed if
necessary to evict them from their Ancient Land. Former President Nixon said
that Israel can never give the Palestinians their own nation because they would
then allow a deadly sharp knife to be placed an inch from her heart.
