Pope Francis Supported Dictator

The Boston Globe reported on March 14, 2013 that Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Pope Francis, was accused by human rights organizations of actively supporting Argentina’s murderous dictatorship",  the brutal dictatorship in Argentina during the bloody crackdown of Leftists in the 1970-1980's.

Friends, I think we should expect a militarist and aggressive Jesuit mentality in the new pope.
It’s without dispute that Jose Mario Bergoglio, like most other Argentines, failed to openly confront the 1976-1983 military junta while it was kidnapping and killing thousands of people in a ‘dirty war’ to eliminate leftist opponents. Some human rights activists accuse Bergoglio, 76, of being more concerned about preserving the church’s image than providing evidence for Argentina’s many human rights trials. 'There’s hypocrisy here when it comes to the church’s conduct, and with Bergoglio in particular', said Estela de la Cuadra, whose mother co-founded the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo activist group during the dictatorship to search for missing family members. There were trials of all kinds and Bergoglio systematically refused to support them.’
Roman Catholic (RC) officials in Argentina whose government has suddenly turned brutal took the long term view of the matter. They reasoned that the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) existed in the country many hundreds of years before the military regime, and that the RCC would exist many hundreds of years later. RC officials placated the new dictator and decided to simply wait him out.
Bergoglio’s own statements proved church officials knew early on that the junta was torturing and killing its citizens and the RCC publicly endorsed the dictators. The dictatorship could not have operated brutally without this key support.
This statement is serious, because it means that Argentina's dictator could not have killed 30,000 citizens considered leftist or subversive without the tacit support of the RC hierarchy, led by Cardinal Bergoglio. But, we should not be surprised, for this reason: Jesuits are notoriously militant and have been accused in the past of carrying out brutal actions against their enemies or encouraging such brutality on the part of the government leader, who confesses regularly to the top Jesuit priest.
