Boycott & Divest From Anti-Israel Churches

God's View of the World

Friends & Patriots,

I no longer donate to leftist, anti-Israel churches I have divested and boycotted such churches and I urge you to do the same thing. Our hard earned, God given money should go to Bible based churches!
The article below was written by Mark Tooley.
While the United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church (USA) denominations will ponder anti-Israel divestment at their conventions this year, the Episcopal Church’s Presiding Bishop opposes divestment.
“The Episcopal Church does not endorse divestment or boycott,” Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori recently told a Los Angeles group. “It’s not going to be helpful to endorse divestment or boycotts of Israel. It will only end in punishing Palestinians economically.”
Although often left-wing and politicly correct, the Episcopal Church’s chief prelate and other officials, maybe mindful of interfaith relations with Jewish leaders, have typically steered away from the worst anti-Israel zeal. Unlike the Methodist and Presbyterians, the Episcopalians will not seriously consider divestment at their own convention this year.
Speaking to a Middle East Peacemakers luncheon, Schori was obliged to make the usual calls for “dialogue” and to imply moral equivalence between Israel’s struggle to exist versus Palestinian calls for its eradication. “We can urge Israel to freeze the settlement activity,” she suggested, according to Episcopal News Service. “We can urge the Palestinian Authority to recognize Israel’s right to exist. We can condemn violence everywhere.”
But strikingly unlike others on the Religious Left, she did not demonize Israel, or glowingly embrace pro-Palestinian Liberation Theology. “We can urge our legislators and government to encourage dialogue between Israeli and Palestinian leaders,” she opined. “We can urge them to refrain from de-funding hopeful initiatives.” And she urged positive investment in “legitimate development in Palestine’s West Bank and in Gaza.” Schori called for a “two-state solution with a dignified home for Palestinians and for Israelis.” Meanwhile, some on the Religious Left are increasingly inclined towards admitting their support for a “one-state” solution that would demographically eradicate Israel’s Jewish democracy.
As Bishop Schori was urging relative moderation, the harder line Religious Left was backing the March 30 “March on Jerusalem.” It is hoping to mobilize many thousands to denounce Israel’s ostensible “Apartheid, ethnic cleansing and Judaisation policies.” Besides backing from former Obama pastor Jeremiah Wright and Christian Socialist Cornel West of Union Seminary, the march is backed by Friends of Sabeel – North America (FOSNA). Presbyterian minister Don Wagner is the FOSNA national program director and recently denounced Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren’s Wall Street Journal column that noted Christians are increasing inside Israel but declining in Muslim-majority Palestinian territory.
“Palestinian Christians and Muslims have been living together in harmony for centuries in what we call the Holy Land,” the Rev. Wagner boasted, in his own sugar-coated and truncated version of Islamic domination in Middle East history. “They also face the same brutal treatment at the hands of the Israeli occupiers, die from the same bullets, see their homes bulldozed and their lands confiscated and turned into illegal Jewish (only) settlements.” The Sabeel and typical Religious Left narrative is that only Israel can be faulted for any regional upheaval. “They live behind a 24-foot wall that chokes their towns and villages and cuts off farmers from tilling their lands, whether they are Christians or Muslims,” Wagner said of Palestinian Christians. “The Israeli occupation is an equal abuser of Palestinian Christians and Muslims.”
Wagner rehashed the narrative that Palestinian Christians are leaving the region exclusively because of Israel. This narrative almost never explains why the Palestinian Muslim population continues to grow, despite all the Israeli oppression. Wagner recalled that 13 percent of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip population was Christian prior to Israeli occupation in 1967 after its victorious war against attacking Arab armies. He notes today the Palestinian Christian population is perhaps not more than 1 percent. Of course, he omits the exodus of Christians from other Middle East countries, an exodus compounded by low birth rates.
“Some church leaders fear that at this rate there will be no Christians left in these parts of the Holy Land within a generation, unless something dramatic causes Israel to change its intransigence,” Wagner warns. But if Israel completely withdrew behind pre-1967 borders, would Palestinian Christians suddenly begin to thrive under full Palestinian nationalist or Islamist rule? Everywhere throughout the Middle East, Christian populations have been draining for the last century or more. That exodus is accelerating, as secular dictatorships that partly protected Christians are surrendering to Islamist movements.
Wagner excitedly pointed at the upcoming United Methodist and Presbyterian conventions, which he hopes will approve anti-Israel divestment, though both churches have rejected it in the past. He explains: “The churches are applying the same ethical principles for morally responsible investment as they have applied in previous cases such as Apartheid in South Africa, Sudan ethnic cleansing in Darfur, and divesting from corporations producing weapons or instruments that destroy lives or the livelihood of civilians.” How ironic that he morally compares Israel to Sudan’s notorious Islamist regime. “These sisters and brothers [among the Palestinians] are hoping and praying that the global church will not let them down in their hour of need and will begin to embody prophetic consciousness,” Wagner concluded.
Well, perhaps. Or just as likely, the remnant of Palestinian Christians is saying what they have to say in a struggle to survive as a tiny minority among Muslim nationalists and zealots. Compared to Wagner’s FOSNA and the angry March on Jerusalem, Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori almost sounds coolly reassuring when she told her Los Angeles audience: “I would urge you to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, to pray and work together for a society of peace with justice for that vision that is shared by all Abrahamic faiths. Salaam, shalom, peace.”

Obamas Give A Lump of Coal for Christmas

This article was written by Rick Trzupek

The coal industry and coal-fired power has been dealt a series of body blows by the Obama administration over the last four years. Yesterday, the EPA delivered the coup de grace to coal, in the form of a new rule that – unless overturned by Congress or a future administration – will ensure that no new, modern coal-fired power plants will be built in the United States.
The EPA released Subpart TTTT of New Source Performance Standards yesterday, a proposed rule that limits carbon dioxide emissions from new power plants. No coal-fired power plant can meet the emission limit (1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt of power produced), but natural gas-fired power plants can. This will lead to some significant changes in the power energy once the rule goes final, sometime next year.
It is now estimated that around 50,000 to 80,000 megawatts of coal fired power will be retired from the grid over the next few years. Coal fired power is base load power (that is, power that has to be available all of the time) and neither solar nor wind can provide base load power anywhere but in the President’s green fantasies. Biomass (wood, energy crops, etc.) can provide base load power, but there’s not nearly enough of the fuel to replace so much coal. More nuclear power could easily shoulder the load, but there’s no way that we can permit and build enough nuclear plants in the time available. That leaves natural gas as the only fuel that can possibly be used to replace all of that coal.
Right now, natural gas is looking pretty good. Thanks to shale gas, we have abundant supplies (over one hundred years of proven reserves, even in the worst-case demand scenario) and prices are incredibly low. New, highly efficient combined-cycle gas-fired power plants are actually competitive with coal-fired power at today’s prices.
Replacing all of that coal with natural gas should soothe global warming alarmists as well. (I say “should” because everyone knows that the environmental doom industry cannot and will not ever admit that it is satisfied with any level of reductions until we’re living in caves.) Natural gas generates much less carbon dioxide per unit of energy as compared to coal and, as noted above, natural gas-fired power plants can be much more efficient. The combination of these two effects means that carbon dioxide emissions in the United States, which have been declining for the last five years in any case, will drop even more precipitously in the future.
So, one might be tempted to ask: what’s the big deal? If natural gas is cheap and if burning natural gas might cause at least a few hysterical enviro-types to lower the volume of their incessant shrieking just a tad, it’s all good – right? Well, not quite.
Historically, natural gas prices have been very volatile and, despite the current glut, there is no reason to believe that supply will so greatly outstrip demand in the long run. The big energy players in natural gas, companies like Chesapeake, Cabot and Chevron, are working hard to create new markets, increase demand and thus get prices back up. A major South African chemical company recently announced plans to build a plant here that will produce gasoline from natural gas feedstock. Several players in the energy market are in the initial stages of planning Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals with exports to Europe and Asia in mind. There are plans in the works to create more natural gas infrastructure so that the nation’s truck fleet will convert over from diesel to natural gas.
Perhaps most importantly, using natural gas to generate thousands of megawatts of power will consume huge quantities of the fuel, thus necessarily causing prices to rise as more new power plants come on line. It’s no surprise that the two big manufacturers of natural gas fired-turbines – GE and Siemens – have been flooding the airwaves with commercials extolling the virtues of their wares. Both companies stand to make a whole lot of money in the next few years thanks to the Obama administration’s all-out war on coal.
In contrast to the volatility of natural gas prices, coal prices have always been pretty steady. Thus the coal fleet (along with the nuclear fleet) has helped to dampen out any fluctuations in natural gas that affects that relatively small portion of energy production in the United States. As we shift away from coal and put more of the energy burden on natural gas, electricity prices are likely to fluctuate more than they ever have and are likely to increase substantially over the long term as well.
It’s a shame that we’re knowingly abandoning such a cheap, reliable and plentiful resource like coal in a foolish effort to fulfill a ridiculous crusade led by eco-puritans. It’s maddening that such a decision was made not by Congress, nor by the voters, but by a few faceless bureaucrats hiding behind global-warming pseudo-science that has become the twenty-first century’s version of alchemy. But that’s where we are and, unless something changes this November, that’s where we’re likely to be for quite a while.

Supernatural Events

Our Sun

Friends,

Last week I said because of the Global March on Jerusalem (GMJ) and the U.S. State Department calling for a "two-state solution" (the division of Jerusalem between Jew and Arab) we could expect supernatural events.

It has now become clear in my mind that the supernatural event is the further division among our citizens in the United States per the Trayvon Martin case. We now have Blacks vs. Whites vs. Hispanics. The division within the USA will only grow as we as a nation desert Israel and DIVIDE Jerusalem. The division will bring with it increased violence. Last night in Cincinnati, Ohio six people were shot. I can remember a time when a lone murder in Cincinnati was a big deal for a year e.g. the Edith Klump case. It dominated newspapers in Cincinnati for a year. Now there is so much violence in our cities and towns we can't keep up with it. This is certainly a fulfillment of scriptural prophecy. Gen 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 2 Sam 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

Tomorrow the Global March on Jerusalem (GMJ) occurs. I would expect a supernatural event at anytime. Personally, I do not believe God likes sinful human beings tampering with His land that He promised to His chosen people the Jews. I do not know what these supernatural events could be. It could be earthquakes, political, tornadoes, wild fires, freakish weather, solar storms, violence, crime, war, rumors of wars, terrorism etc.

The following events occurred on the 29th:

A general strike occurred in Spain which has the highest unemployment in the EU.

N. Korea launched 2 short range missiles

Since Monday the Lower North Fork Wildfire has destroyed 22 homes and killed 2 people.

On the 25th a 7.1 magnitude quake occurred in Maule, Chile.

On the 20th a 7.4 magnitude quake occurred in Oaxaca, Mexico.

There has been a tremendous amount of seismic activity in Alaska and near Puerto Rico. Stay tuned folks we are just revving up for the big show!

On Wednesday, at the daily State Department press briefing, official State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland repeatedly refused to state that the Obama Administration recognizes Jerusalem as the Capital of the State of Israel. In answer to the question: "Is it the view of the - of the United States that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, notwithstanding the question about the embassy - the location of the U.S. embassy? Nuland said, "We are not going to prejudge the outcome of those negotiations, including the final status of Jerusalem."In other words, all of Jerusalem is up for grabs in the eyes of the Obama Administration. And she refused to answer the question over and over again.Jerusalem is in unprecedented danger at this time and the above statement is another proof of the Obama Regime’s hostility towards the state of Israel. This is another negative statement towards Israel that in the past has caused a supernatural event in the U.S. Also the term "final status" of Jerusalem is a code word for giving part of Jerusalem to the Palestinians. It is not good to make a fool of the Lord our God and His covenants.
When Netanyahu lasted visited the U.S. in early March there were supernatural events in the USA. I documented those events in my article below. Click on the link.

Remember we are dealing with birth pangs and at the present time the pangs are relatively far apart but over the last two years the pangs have occurred more frequently. Like a woman in labor the birth pangs will get worse the closer we get to the rapture and the appearance of the anti-christ. As my friend Jack says, "Don't tie your shoes too tight!"
I find it interesting that the largest tornado ever observed on our Sun was first reported today on the eve of the GMJ. This massive electro-magnetic tornado has been occurring since 2011. The article below is from Yahoo YTech.
Tornadoes can be absolutely devastating here on Earth, costing billions of dollars yearly in property damage. But even the most severe of Earthly tornadoes has nothing on this behemoth: Scientists have recently discovered a massive super tornado on the surface of the Sun five times bigger than our own planet.
The swirling gas was discovered by NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory satellite in September 2011. News of the tornado's existence was presented to the National Astronomy Meeting 2012 today in England. Clocking in at 186,000 miles per hour, the speeds of this tornado absolutely dwarf those of a storm on Earth. Terrestrial storms don't exactly get as hot as this tornado either: The solar storm's temperature ranges between 90,000 and 3.6 million degrees Fahrenheit.
While scientists have viewed large solar tornadoes in the past, this one is easily the biggest ever observed. The cause of the storm is believed to be the twisting of the Sun's magnetic field. Watch the video below of this monster.

Yeshua, I pray that You rapture us now. I pray this because Your children around the world are being persecuted and face total eradication by Your enemies. Lord, as You know, it is a Christian holocaust in Egypt, Indonesia, China, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Peru, Iran, Nigeria, Sudan, Turkey and Azerbaijan just to name a few countries. Yeshua, secondly I pray that you open Jewish eyes to the truth that You are their Messiah. The second Jewish holocaust is just around the corner and most of the Jews will be slaughtered Your chosen people.

Global March on Jerusalem

Friends,

The Global March on Jerusalem is 30 March. Do not be surprised if there is a major earthquake, tornadoes, violence, extremely bad weather, a solar storm or something else disastrous on that day. Below is what the Lord says about Jerusalem.

Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Zec 12:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Zec 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

The Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ) is slated for March 30 -Land Day for the Palestinians. It is a coordinated attempt to breach Israel’s borders from surrounding Arab states—Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. Pro-Palestinian radicals are coming from around the world.

Their goal is to ensure that as many as one million people overwhelm Israeli border security and march to Jerusalem, where they will assert Muslim rights to the holy city.
This is a ticking time bomb and a preview of Israel's future as the world becomes more and more anti-semitic.

This is a lose-lose situaiton for Israel. On 15 May 2011 and 5 June 2011activists marched on Israel’s borders. When Israeli officials could not contain them, both incidents turned violent, resulting in dozens of deaths and many more injured.
This is what was posted on GMJ's website, “We aim to make this march a turning point in the nature of the confrontation, with the occupation having to face millions of protesters and demonstrators demanding Freedom for Palestine and its capitol Jerusalem.”Below are some of the radicals and radical groups involved in GMJ:

1. the International Solidarity Movement.
2. UK-based Mohamed Sawalha is a former Hamas commander who played an integral role in the first flotilla.

3. Ashraf Abu Zayed, who does public relations work for Hamas in Gaza, now sits on the GMJ central committee

4.Hamas parliamentarian Ahmad Abo Halabiya.
Last December, Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh announced the march, calling for the establishment of “the ‘Army of Jerusalem’… in order to take action to liberate Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.”
Hamas is coordinating its efforts with other regional terrorist groups. On March 14, a Hamas delegation headed by Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzouk met with Hezbollah figurehead Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. According to Hezbollah media outlets, the GMJ was one of their agenda items.
5. Iran, regime loyalist Hossein Shaikhol-Eslam was named secretary of the board for the GMJ, and “emphasized that the Global March to Jerusalem is a symbol representing the protests of the different movements from the free nations of the world against the occupation, oppression, injustice and Judaization of Jerusalem.”
6. A GMJ delegation from Southeast Asia will travel to Turkey and then hop a ferry to Lebanon, and then make its way to the border with Israel.

7. The Muslim Brotherhood alone has representatives from Jordan, Lebanon, South Africa, Egypt, and Turkey.

The protest has also been endorsed, unsurprisingly, by prominent radical leftists in the West including anti-apartheid activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former British MP George Galloway, radical professors Noam Chomsky and Cornel West, Code Pink activist Medea Benjamin, and the notoriously controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright. A closer look at the anti-Israel track record of this star-studded lineup gives one a clear picture of just how great is the animus that the movement bears toward Israel.
Asserting that “Israel is like Hitler and apartheid,” Archbishop Tutu has been a decidedly anti-Israel voice for many years. Pro-Palestinian activist Galloway is an admirer of Saddam Hussein, Castro, Chavez, Mao, and Stalin. He insists that it is “necessary” for the “two great forces” of Islamists and progressives to unite against “Zionist occupation” and “savage capitalist globalization.”

Mark Trapson wrote this portion of the article: As for GMJ’s prominent American supporters, influential academic Chomsky openly detests Israel; in 2005 Rachel Neuwirth called him a one-man cottage industry of hundreds of anti-Israel books, articles, recorded interviews and lectures… Over a thirty-five year span Chomsky has repeated every distortion and libel directed against Israel that’s ever appeared in Arab, Western, and left-wing Israeli publications, to which he adds some conspiracy theories of his own devising.
Racist professor Cornel West is a close friend not only of Obama, the most anti-Israel President in history, but also of noted anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan; West is also an avowed admirer of Rev. Wright (see below). Medea Benjamin and her group Code Pink, who express support for every conceivable extant enemy of the United States from Cuba to North Korea to the Taliban to Hamas, blames the Middle East conflict largely on our “biased policy toward Israel”; meanwhile she praises the savage Hamas for its commitment to “mutual respect and adherence to international law.” That would be the same Hamas whose very charter promises the eradication of Israel.
Black liberation theologist Jeremiah Wright, President Obama’s spiritual mentor for nearly twenty years, has expressed his anti-white racism, anti-Americanism, and anti-Semitism on too many occasions to enumerate. He has likened Israel to “a dirty word,” and accused it of waging genocide against the Palestinians (if so, it’s the most incompetent genocide in history, since the Palestinian population is one of the fastest-growing in the world). He and unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, another former Obama associate, jointly addressed a crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters in Chicago in 2009. Like Ayers, Wright is so radioactive that even Obama finally distanced himself from the firebrand. Asked if he had spoken to Obama since he had taken office, Wright replied, “Them Jews aren’t going to let him talk to me.” The White House maintains its silence in response to Wright’s endorsement of the march on Israel.
Other notable American supporters of the march on Jerusalem are boosters of Obama as well. progressives Clayborne Carson and Marcy Winograd donated to Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008, as did United Nations official Richard Falk. Carson is a Stanford University professor who cites radical historian Howard Zinn as inspiration for his own political activism and scholarship, and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) schoolteacher Winograd is a Green Party activist who organized OccupyLAUSD to protest school budget cuts. In his position as UN Human Rights Council’s special rapporteur on the Palestinian territories, Falk outraged many with his article “Slouching Towards a Palestinian Holocaust,” in which he described Nazi horrors and then drew a parallel with Israel: “Is it an irresponsible overstatement to associate the treatment of Palestinians with this criminalized Nazi record of collective atrocity? I think not.”
The GMJ’s principal backer in the U.S. is the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a radical anti-Israel organization that justifies Palestinian terrorism against Israeli civilians and actively obstructs Israeli security and anti-terrorism operations. ISM co-founder Huwaida Arraf has acknowledged that her organization works with such paragons of peace as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
With supporters like these, it’s clear that the Global March to Jerusalem is not a peace movement but a large-scale publicity stunt designed to provoke Israel into a violent response, which the participants hope will play right into their relentless strategy to isolate and delegitimize the hated Israel. (End of Trapson's portion)

I can't believe Jimmy Carter is going to miss this event, he must be involved somehow. Here is the link to the GMJ website. http://www.gmj-na.org/home.html

Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Jimmy Carter's New Bible

Even Jimmy's dog is bored with him!

Patriots & Friends,

We can always count upon Jimmy "Mr. Peanut Head" Carter to provide us with some idiotic entertainment. Not only has Jimmy accepted millions of dollars from Islamic anti-semites in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States but now he has a new study Bible on the market. Below is a direct quote from Mr. Peanut Head's new study Bible.

"When we go to the Bible we should keep in mind that the basic principles of the Bible are taught by God, but written down by human beings deprived of modern day knowledge. So there is some fallibility in the writings of the Bible."

You see Jimmy is part of the "Lets Help God Society (LHGS)" Jimmy needs to explain to us what God really said because we are too stupid to understand God's book. Secondly, Jimmy implies that God had no way of seeing the future and impressing his prophecies on people. Jimmy says we modern people are far smarter than the prophets and the chosen people of old who God used as tools to convey his autobiography.

What Jimmy is really saying is don't listen to all of God's words because God is not infallible. Jimmy and the LHGS constantly call for a modern God and modern translation. The Chicago Theological Seminary said the same thing in 1912 and the Christian revisionists and progressives continue to modify God's word today.

Well, Mr. Peanut Head, you could not manage our nation and now you telling us how to manage God's word. Why don't you just go away!

So Mr. Peanut Head I will pass on your new study Bible, your anti-semitism, your personal corruption and your social gospel. However, I do pray that someday you will embrace the true word of God and see the error of your way and stand with God's chosen people. Below are links to other articles I wrote on Jimmy Carter and his radical pals.

I just realized something interesting, Jimmy Carter and Mary Robinson are key members of the Elders. The Board of the Elders has ten people. In the Book of Revelation ten kings answer to the anti-christ.

War Between Israel & Iran

Bunker Busting Bomb

What will happen to the U.S. if Israel attacks Iran?

Let’s begin by acknowledgingthat no one knows for sure. But there are credible experts who have ventured an educated guess, and the scenario is not a pleasant one. ABC investigative journalist Brian Ross asked former White Housecounterterrorism official Richard Clarke what might happen. He listed five things.

First, gas prices could double. Right now, twenty percent of the oil tradedworldwide passes through the Persian Gulf. This would certainly be true if Iran began to attack oil tankers. A spike in gas prices is likely.

Second, there could be a terror strike against America. An Israeli attack could be used to justify a new wave of terrorism directed by Tehran, especially if the U.S. gets pulled into the conflict. The attack could be on U.S. embassies or even American citizens.

Third, we might see the world’s first international cyberwar. Before Israel wouldattack Iran, they would certainly try to blind the air defenses of Iran and its neighbors. The U.S. has the capability to disrupt power grids, and it is likely that Iran would attempt to hit back against our infrastructure of power grids, trains, airplanes, and refineries.

Fourth, there would be U.S. Navy casualties in the gulf. Iranians have hundreds of small boats, armed boats, and commando boats. They could swarm a U.S. destroyer and even disable it with cruise missiles and anti-ship cruise missiles.

Fifth, the U.S. could enter the war. If Israel bombs Iran, retaliation is likely. Imagine the phone call from Prime Minister Netanyahu asking the U.S. president to deploy the American military to destroy mobile missile launchers that are raining rockets down on Israeli citizens! It would be hard for the president to say no.

Let me add something else:

Six, thousands of rockets would rain down on Israel from Lebanon and from Hamas in Gaza.

Seven, Syria would likely enter the war and Damascus would become ruins.

Eight, the people in Egypt would demand to enter the war and the Israelis would cripple Egypt.

How we lookin?

Not good

Is There Something Wrong?

  1. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . . A Muslim officer crying "Allah Akbar" while shooting up an army base is considered to have committed "Workplace Violence" while an American citizen boasting a Ron Paul bumper sticker is classified as a "Domestic Terrorist".

  2. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . . Your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend more money.

  3. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
A seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for calling his teacher "cute" but hosting a sexual exploration class on a college campus is perfectly acceptable.

  4. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
The Supreme Court of the United States can rule that lower courts cannot display the 10 Commandments in their courtroom, while sitting in front of a display of the 10 Commandments.

  5. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
Children are forcibly removed from parents who appropriately discipline them while children of "underprivileged" drug addicts are left to rot in filth infested cesspools.

  6. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
Working class Americans pay for their own health care (and the health care of everyone else) while unmarried women are free to have child after child on the "State's" dime while never being held responsible for their own choices.

  7. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
Hard work and success are rewarded with higher taxes and government intrusion, while slothful, lazy behavior is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid and subsidized housing.

  8. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
The government's plan for getting people back to work is to provide 99 weeks of unemployment checks (to not work).

  9. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
Being self-sufficient is considered a threat to the government.

  10. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
Politicians think that stripping away the amendments to the constitution is really protecting the rights of the people.

  11. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
The rights of the State come before the rights of the individual.

  12. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
Parents believe the State is responsible for providing for their children.

  13. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . .
You can write a post like this just by reading the news headlines.

  14. There is something wrong with a nation when . . . . Solar Flares Intensifying

Heliosphere

Friends,

This information is from the NASA web site. It seems like just one more piece of the "End Times" jig saw puzzle falling into place.

March 22, 2012: A recent flurry of eruptions on the sun did more than spark pretty auroras around the poles. NASA-funded researchers say the solar storms of March 8th through 10th dumped enough energy in Earth’s upper atmosphere to power every residence in New York City for two years.
“This was the biggest dose of heat we’ve received from a solar storm since 2005,” says Martin Mlynczak of NASA Langley Research Center. “It was a big event, and shows how solar activity can directly affect our planet.”
Mlynczak is the associate principal investigator for the SABER instrument onboard NASA’s TIMED satellite. SABER monitors infrared emissions from Earth’s upper atmosphere, in particular from carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitric oxide (NO), two substances that play a key role in the energy balance of air hundreds of km above our planet’s surface.
“Carbon dioxide and nitric oxide are natural thermostats,” explains James Russell of Hampton University, SABER’s principal investigator. “When the upper atmosphere (or ‘thermosphere’) heats up, these molecules try as hard as they can to shed that heat back into space.”
That’s what happened on March 8th when a coronal mass ejection (CME) propelled in our direction by an X5-class solar flare hit Earth’s magnetic field. (On the “Richter Scale of Solar Flares,” X-class flares are the most powerful kind.) Energetic particles rained down on the upper atmosphere, depositing their energy where they hit. The action produced spectacular auroras around the poles and significant1 upper atmospheric heating all around the globe.
“The thermosphere lit up like a Christmas tree,” says Russell. “It began to glow intensely at infrared wavelengths as the thermostat effect kicked in.”
For the three day period, March 8th through 10th, the thermosphere absorbed 26 billion kWh of energy. Infrared radiation from CO2 and NO, the two most efficient coolants in the thermosphere, re-radiated 95% of that total back into space.

In human terms, this is a lot of energy. According to the New York City mayor’s office, an average NY household consumes just under 4700 kWh annually. This means the geomagnetic storm dumped enough energy into the atmosphere to power every home in the Big Apple for two years.
“Unfortunately, there’s no practical way to harness this kind of energy,” says Mlynczak. “It’s so diffuse and out of reach high above Earth’s surface. Plus, the majority of it has been sent back into space by the action of CO2 and NO.”
During the heating impulse, the thermosphere puffed up like a marshmallow held over a campfire, temporarily increasing the drag on low-orbiting satellites. This is both good and bad. On the one hand, extra drag helps clear space junk out of Earth orbit. On the other hand, it decreases the lifetime of useful satellites by bringing them closer to the day of re-entry.
The storm is over now, but Russell and Mlynczak expect more to come.
“We’re just emerging from a deep solar minimum,” says Russell. “The solar cycle is gaining strength with a maximum expected in 2013.”
More sunspots flinging more CMEs toward Earth adds up to more opportunities for SABER to study the heating effect of solar storms.
“This is a new frontier in the sun-Earth connection,” says Mlynczak, and the data we’re collecting are unprecedented.”

Republican Crooks in Athens, GA.

I am not a Ron Paul supporter but he and all candidates need to be treated fairly. I guess I am asking too much in the world of corrupt politics. The Democrats do not have a monopoly on Chicago style politics. I am afraid it is time for a third party to replace our two corrupt political parties. Watch the video below.

Computerized Elections Are Rigged

Patriots,

I think Stalin said it the best: It is not who votes that matters it is the people who count the vote that matter.

There is strong evidence that the state of Iowa was stolen from Santorum and that Ron Paul has had votes stolen from him in several states.

Watch the fascinating video below.

Ayers Family Funded Obama's Education

Allen Hulton

Patriots,

I think we need to remember history. During World War I the German government financed and sent a Marxist radical back to Russia his name was Vladimir Lenin. The German government helped to undermine the Russian government and the Czar.

I believe Marxists and radicals also funded and supported Barack Obama and were the power behind Obama’s rise to the presidency.

Alan

The article below was written by Jerome Corsi of World Net Daily.
Did the parents of former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers help finance Barack Obama’s Harvard education?
Did Ayers’ mother believe Obama was a foreign student?
And was the young Obama convinced at the time – long before he even entered politics – that he was going to become president of the United States?
A retired U.S. Postal Service carrier who delivered mail to Tom and Mary Ayers in a Chicago suburb in the late 1980s and early 1990s and claims to have met Obama in front of the Ayers home emphatically says yes to all three questions.
Allen Hulton, who was commended for 39 years of honorable service with the USPS, has given a sworn affidavit to investigators commissioned by Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio to determine whether Obama is eligible for Arizona’s 2012 election ballot. Hulton has recorded about three hours of video interviews with WND.
Hulton says that in conversations with Mary Ayers while on his route he learned of the couple’s enthusiasm and support for a black foreign student. One bright, warm Chicagoland day, he recounts, he met the student who fit Mary Ayers’ description in front of the Ayers home in Glen Ellyn, Ill. That young man, Hulton is convinced, was Barack Obama.
Hulton delivered mail to the Ayers, who are both deceased, when he was stationed at the post office in Glen Ellyn, an upper-middle class suburb 25 miles west of downtown Chicago, from late 1986 to 1997. He was a USPS employee from March 28, 1962, through March 30, 2001. (Editor’s note: Although the Ayers family no longer lives there, WND is withholding the Glen Ellyn street address for the sake of the current residents’ privacy.)
“It was a beautiful neighborhood – one of the nicer routes any of the letter carriers would have liked to have had,” Hulton recalls. “It had some large and very beautiful homes.”
As WND reported yesterday, Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers – whom he dismissed in a 2008 debate as “just a guy who lives in my neighborhood” – plagued him in the 2008 presidential campaign and could resurface in this year’s election, as many questions remain.
Young Obama
Over a period of years in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Hulton estimates he spoke with Mary Ayers about 18 to 20 times and once to Tom Ayers, who died in 2007. Mary Ayers died in 2000.
“Sometimes Mary would be out when I delivered the mail, and we would exchange a few words on occasion,” he says, recalling that she liked to talk about her family.
“One day, Mary came to the door when I came up to the house with the mail,” he remembers. “After a greeting, she started enthusiastically talking to me about this young black student they were helping out, and she referred to him as a foreign student.”
Hulton assumed that by “helping” the student, Mary Ayers meant she and her husband were financially supporting the black foreign-exchange student with his education.

He says that Mary Ayers told him the student’s name, but that it was a “strange name” that he could not remember, even though at the time it sounded African to him.
“I was taken aback by how enthusiastic she was about him,” Hulton says. “And I believe she said he was from either Kenya or Indonesia, and I favor Indonesia in my recollection.”
WND has reported that when Obama was in Indonesia with his Indonesian stepfather and his mother from ages 6 to10, he was registered in school as an Indonesian citizen and a Muslim. He went by the name Barry Soetoro, adopting the surname of his Indonesian stepfather. His mother’s passport listed him with the surname Soebarkah.
Obama refuses to waive privacy rights that would allow the Hawaii Department of Health to release any adoption records that may exist for him.
Even should Obama waive privacy rights, the Hawaii Department of Health might not feel compelled to release any adoption records that may exist. Tight restrictions to vital records have been enacted by the Hawaii State Legislature to seal any public documents pertaining to Obama’s birth records and his adoption status.
If Obama were adopted by his Indonesian stepfather, he may have compromised his eligibility to be president, according to Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, which requires that a president be a “natural-born citizen,” which experts say means having both parents be U.S. citizens.
‘I’m going to be president of the United States’
About a year after discussing with Mary Ayers the foreign student she and her husband were supporting, Hulton recalls meeting a young black male on the sidewalk in front of the Ayers home.
Hulton describes the man as being in his early 20s, noting that he was tall, thin, had a light complexion and that his ears stuck out.
“He greeted me,” Hulton says. “He was very polite, dressed nicely, but informally – slacks and a dress shirt – and he spoke with no accent. Immediately this young black man entered into conversation with me. He told me he had taken the train out from Chicago and had come to thank the Ayers family personally for having helped him with his education.”
Hulton remembers asking the young man what his plans were for the future.
“He looked right at me and told me he was going to be president of the United States,” Hulton says.
“There was a little bit of a grin on his face when he said it – he sounded sure of himself, but not arrogant. I know how people will say things because they have an ambition, but it did not come across that way,” Hulton says. “It came across as if this young black male was telling me he was going to be president, almost as if it were the statement of a scientific fact that had already been determined, as if his being president had been already pre-arranged.”
Hulton says the claim made him speechless.
“I kind of stuttered a response and said that nowadays anything is possible. I wished him good luck with his ambition,” he says.
Immediately, Hulton associated the young black man with the foreign student Mary Ayers had mentioned to him so enthusiastically about a year earlier.
“I remembered the conversation I had with Mary, and I associated this young man with the foreign student she had discussed with me, because Mary said they were supporting this foreign student, and the young black man I met outside the Ayers’ home said he had come to Glen Ellyn to thank the Ayers in person for helping him with his education.”
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Hulton observed several news reports detailing the relationship between Obama and Bill Ayers, and he recalled the encounter with the young man in front of Tom and Mary Ayers’ home.
“The facial and physical characteristics, as well as candidate Obama’s voice, matched that of the young black male I met in front of the Ayers’ home,” Hulton says in the affidavit he signed Nov. 12, 2011, for Sheriff Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse investigation.
“I am positive that the black male I spoke with in front of the Ayers’ house that day was indeed a young Barack Obama.”
Hulton distinctly recalls that the day he met Obama in front of the Ayers’ residence was a warm, sunny day and that Obama wasn’t wearing a jacket.
Marxist
Hulton recalls that he had one conversation with Tom Ayers, who was retired as CEO and chairman of Commonwealth Edison, shortly after the Ayers family moved into their home in Glen Ellyn.
“He asked me how I liked my job, and he started into what seemed to me a Marxist viewpoint on what it is like for the working man, trying to convince me that working people like me were exploited by their employers,” Hulton remembers of the conversation.
“As an American citizen, I appreciated everything I had, and I was not at war with people who had more than I had,” he says. “It surprised me to hear somebody who had been president of Consolidated Edison talking in these terms.”
Hulton says he got the feeling that Tom Ayers thought he knew more about the plight of the workingman than he did.
Summer 1989
A likely timeframe for Hulton’s alleged encounter with Obama is the summer of 1989, when Obama was an intern at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin, after his first year at Harvard Law School.
Hulton says Obama mentioned to him taking the train. The Metra, a commuter from downtown Chicago, stops at a Glen Ellyn station a little more than a mile from the Ayers’ residence.
Michelle Robinson, Obama’s wife-to-be, was the attorney at the firm assigned to mentor Obama in the summer of 1989.
Bernardine Dohrn also had worked as a paralegal at Sidley Austin, from 1984 through 1988. Dohrn’s 1960s radical activities as a self-described “revolutionary communist” landed her on the FBI’s list of 10 most wanted fugitives, and because of her felony conviction, she was not allowed to take the Illinois bar exam.
Widely speculated in Chicago is that Dohrn got the job at Sidley Austin through the influence of her father-in-law, Thomas Ayers, who was one of the law firm’s biggest clients.
Michelle Obama started at the firm in the summer of 1988 and remained there until 1991.
Hulton recalls meeting Dohrn at the home of her in-laws, although his encounters with her were limited to having Dohrn sign for mail addressed to her.
First reported in 2009
Hulton’s account of meeting Obama in suburban Chicago was first reported by California lawyer and political scientist Stephen Diamond in September 2009.
Writing on his blog, Diamond reported that he had interviewed Hulton at length and considered his account credible.
“The statement by Hulton is the first eyewitness account of a possible relationship between Obama and Tom Ayers and the first that dates his relationship with the Ayers family to the mid-1980s,” Diamond wrote.
As early as Oct. 13, 2008, prior to the November 2008 presidential election, Diamond had reported that Obama’s relationship with the Ayers family dated back to 1988. At that time, Obama, as head of the Developing Communities Project, joined the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools, the ABCs Coalition. The lobbying alliance aimed to push through Chicago public schools the creation of “Local School Councils,” or LSCs, to oversee teachers and administrators.
“The proposal was very controversial, and groups like Operation PUSH headed by Jesse Jackson did not support it, because many teachers were black – it was one of the first stable middle class careers a black person, and black women in particular, could aspire to in Chicago,” Diamond wrote.
Tom Ayers and Bill Ayers were strong supporters of the LSCs, however, according to Diamond, and Chicago United, a group founded by Tom Ayers, joined ABCs too. Bill Ayers became chairman of ABCs.
Knew Ayers’ brother
Hulton was in the same class as Tim Ayers, Bill Ayers’ brother, at Glenbard High School in Glen Ellyn. Although he did not know Bill Ayers, Hulton thought he might have met him at the parents’ home once or twice, but he could not say for certain.
Hulton attended Glenbard, now known as Glenbard West, for four years, but did not have enough credits to graduate. He later earned a GED while in military service. Taking leave from the USPS when he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965, Hulton returned to work as a mailman following his honorable discharge in 1967.
While in the Army, he was assigned to a Pershing Ballistics Missile unit in Germany. Although the Vietnam War was being fought at the time, he was never assigned to Vietnam.

Another Obama Radical Dalia Moghead

Dalia Moghead

This article was written by P. David Hornik

As reported on Jihad Watch this week, an adviser to President Obama has tweeted a criticism of President Bashar Assad of Syria for not being able to mount enough “resistance” to Israel. In the Arab and Middle Eastern context resistance is, of course, a codeword for terrorism and war.
The adviser is Dalia Mogahed. Yet another example of the strange company Obama has kept and continues to keep, he appointed her to serve on the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. On March 10 she tweeted on her Twitter account:
To those siding w/Assad: he cannot deliver stability, protection of minorities, or resistance to Israel. He is a killer w/o legitimacy.
It wasn’t Mogahed’s first venture in radicalism. Two years ago she advocated Sharia law on British TV, saying it provided “gender justice” even though, as Robert Spencer noted at the time, Sharia prescribes wife-beating, permits taking the vows with prepubescent girls, and discriminates against women in matters of testimony, inheritance, marriage and divorce.
Indeed, the show was hosted by a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir—banned as a terrorist organization by many countries—and included two Hizb ut-Tahrir guests who denounced Western society and called to make Sharia “the source of legislation.” Hizb ut-Tahrir’s alumni include 9/11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Jordanian jihadist Abu Musab Zarqawi, killed by U.S. forces in Iraq in 2006.
Mogahed was also coauthor with John Esposito of Who Speaks For Islam?: What a Billion Muslims Really Think—a book whose blatant distortions of poll data were exposed by Robert Satloff among others. Arabian Business magazine has named Mogahed one of the Arab world’s most influential women.
And what of her take on Assad? Does he indeed come up short on “resistance to Israel”?
In fact, since becoming president in 2000, Bashar has continued his father Hafez Assad’s policy of making Damascus a headquarters for Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other anti-Israeli terror groups. It was in Damascus that—in a move many attribute to Israel—Hizbullah arch-terrorist Imad Mughniyeh was assassinated in February 2008. Under Bashar, Syria has continued its role as weapons-conduit from Iran to Hizbullah in Lebanon.
It’s only recently that Hamas—with Bashar’s largely-Alawite forces killing many of Hamas’s Syrian Sunni compatriots—appears to have left Syria. But Palestinian Islamic Jihad remains based in Damascus, and with Iranian and Syrian encouragement and assistance played the major role in last week’s bombardment of southern Israel from Gaza.
Seemingly, then, Bashar’s credentials on “resistance to Israel” aren’t bad.
And yet Mogahed may have a point. Since the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the Assad dynasty—while a hub of anti-Israeli terror—has kept Syria’s border with Israel quiet and avoided war. Even if the reason is deterrence, that leads many in Israel to think Assad could be a lesser evil than forces—especially if Islamist-dominated—that might ultimately topple him.
In other words, if one sees Bashar Assad as unable to “deliver” on “resistance to Israel,” it can only mean one favors an “upgrade” from mere terrorism to war. And that appears to be the stance of Dalia Mogahed, one of President Obama’s advisers on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Soros' New Gun Control Tactic

Patriots,

The National Assn. of Gun Rights has uncovered an incredible anti-gun crusade that goes right down to your city hall.Simply put, George Soros is working to ban guns in your town.

Soros is working with the National League of Cities to push big city gun control in small towns all over the country. And right now, Soros and his allies are winning...Not even well-known anti-gun crusaders like Sarah Brady have been able to accomplish what the Soros-backed League of Cities is doing right now. While the gun rights battle has been raging in Washington, D.C. George Soros has been quietly investing billions in taking power on the state and local levels. The Soros-backed National League of Cities and their affiliated state Municipal Leagues have become a major conduit of Soros’ aggressive anti-gun agenda.

The National League of Cities’ stated goals include:

*** Registration for all handguns

*** Banning semi-automatic firearms

*** Cracking down on gun shows

*** A thirty-day waiting period on all gun purchases

*** Ending the manufacture of 10-round magazines

*** Gun bans in parks and libraries and other public places.

Just within the last month, a parade of taxpayer funded Municipal stooges showed up to support city-level gun bans in New Hampshire. In South Dakota, the state Municipal League is using tax dollars to push for sweeping self-defense bans in city parks, libraries, transit buses and numerous other public places. The League has also been pushing a similar agenda in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Connecticut, Delaware, North Carolina and Virginia. The gun rights battles in Washington, D.C. are fierce enough. Now we’re also facing increasing attacks in State Capitols and City Council Chambers nationwide.

Problem With Kony Video

Joseph Kony

This article was written by Jacob Laksin On March 16, 2012

If you frequent the web, chances are you are familiar with “Kony 2012” “the most viral video in history.” The 30-minute video, created by American charity Invisible Children, is part of an awareness campaign against Joseph Kony, the Ugandan warlord notorious for kidnapping children and turning them into conscripts in his murderous guerilla force, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). The aim of the campaign is to make Kony “famous,” that is, to show his crimes and to generate public support for international action to arrest him and end the humanitarian crisis in Uganda.

The campaign’s animating humanitarian concern is admirable. While he surely has too much competition to qualify as “one of the world’s worst war criminals,” as the campaign dubs him, Joseph Kony is indeed a monster, a faux-mystic and madman whose two-decade-plus catalogue of crimes includes the abduction of 30,000 children, the murder and mutilation of tens of thousands of civilians, and the displacement of over 2 million people in Northern Uganda. In showcasing those crimes for a global audience – the Kony 2012 video has garnered over 100 million views in six days – Invisible Children has at least ensured that the world will bear witness to what he has wrought.

Despite that, the campaign’s framing of the relevant issues is seriously flawed. For one thing, the video is strikingly self-indulgent. Notwithstanding its no-doubt sincere concern for Kony’s child victims in Africa, the child at the center of the video is the white 5-year-old son of Invisible Children’s co-founder, Jason Russell. Most of the campaign’s featured supporters are also white, and their enthusiasm for social activism via the internet, combined with the Kony 2012 bracelets they wear in support of the campaign, have the unfortunate effect of making an issue purportedly about Ugandans seem disconcertingly about, well, themselves. At least that is how it struck Ugandans, who jeered and threw stones after a recent screening of the video. Apparently expecting to see a film about the atrocities they lived through, they were angered to instead find young white people turning a murderer into an accessory. The irony, clearly, was lost in translation.

Ugandans aren’t the only ones misled. The video would have viewers believe that Kony has been allowed to operate with impunity, killing children while the world averts its gaze. But in fact he has been on the radar of international authorities for years. In 2001, the Patriot Act named the Lords Resistance Army on its list of official terrorist groups. When the International Criminal Court issued its first-ever arrest warrant in 2005, it was for Kony and his top commanders. In 2008, the State Department, then headed by Condoleeza Rice, designated Kony a “terrorist.” Then last May President Obama signed the Lord’s Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act, which made it U.S. policy to “apprehend or remove Joseph Kony and his top commanders from the battlefield” and to “disarm and demobilize the remaining Lord’s Resistance Army fighters.” Given that Kony remains at large, there is nothing wrong with bringing additional attention to his case. But it’s deceptive at best to suggest, as the video does, that he somehow escaped the international community’s notice until the Kony 2012 campaign arrived on the scene.

It’s similarly misleading to claim that Kony still poses a pressing threat in Northern Uganda. Not only is that not the case, but it hasn’t been the case for nearly half a decade. The LRA has not been in Northern Uganda at least since 2005, when it was driven out of the country by Uganda’s military forces. Nor do Kony and the LRA inspire the kind of terror in Uganda that they once did. The most recent estimates suggest that Kony commands several hundred fighters at most, and one of the reasons he has proven so elusive is that it’s difficult to track such a small cadre in the thick jungles of the Congo, where the LRA has fled. By no means does that obviate the need to bring Kony to justice, not least because the LRA still carries out random massacres in the Congo, but its simply untrue to suggest, as the video does, that Kony remains the same scourge to Ugandans that he was during the height of the LRA’s reign of terror in the 1990s. Pointing that out would probably detract from the urgency of the campaign, but at least it would provide a more accurate picture of the situation.

This is the kind of context that is sorely missing from the video and the broader campaign. For all their good intentions, the activists behind Kony 2012 don’t seem to grasp the complexity of African culture and politics. Yet that context is critical because arresting Kony, however worthwhile in itself, will not solve the most significant problems that African children face, which still stem from poverty and disease. (A debilitating illness called “nodding disease,” which causes epilepsy-like symptoms and blindness, is particularly devastating among Northern Ugandan children.)

Kony himself is as much a symptom as a cause of the country’s problems. The Lord’s Resistance Army is just of one of many rebel and guerrilla armies that have flourished in that part of the world, brought into being by the absence of functioning governmental and social institutions and the lack of economic opportunity. Indeed, the LRA itself has long been caught up in larger regional forces, acting as a pawn in an ongoing proxy war between Sudan and Uganda. For years, Sudan sponsored Kony and the LRA as a way to destabilize the Ugandan government. Uganda replied in kind by supporting John Garang and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army, another ragtag guerrilla outfit with a history of children in its ranks and attacks on civilians. In fact, yet another reason why Kony has been able to dodge capture for so long is that Sudan has repeatedly offered him refuge in the southern part of the country. If the activists behind the Kony 2012 campaign understand these complexities, there is no sign of it in their video.
That ignorance is troubling because, as writer Joshua Keating observes, it could have real consequences for Ugandans. One of the aims of the Kony 2012 campaign is to increase U.S. support for the Ugandan government of President Yoweri Museveni and his military as they hunt down Kony. With that aim in mind, the Obama administration recently sent 100 U.S. “military advisors” to assist the Ugandan military. The video celebrates that decision as a vindication of its human-rights campaign. What it neglects to mention is that, with Kony expelled, the Ugandan military is now the most grievous violator of human rights inside the country. As human rights watchdogs have documented, the Ugandan army’s brutality actually rivals that of the LRA. In the past, Ugandan army soldiers have beaten, raped, and killed the very civilians they are supposed to protect from Kony and his thugs. And because the military refuses to prosecute or even discipline its rogue soldiers, the army, unlike Kony, really does operate with impunity. Except that now it also operates with the assistance of U.S. military personnel.

It’s easy and proper to be moved by the plight of suffering children, and the Kony 2012 deserves credit for turning Kony’s crimes into a high-profile issue. But the singular focus on a much-weakened warlord papers over the far bigger problems facing African children and pushes the U.S. into a military alliance that it may well have cause to regret. No doubt these activists imagine themselves to be engaging in a new form of web-driven social activism. They’re probably correct. Whether that activism truly helps Africans is another question entirely.
