My Boy Tony

Staff Sergeant Tony Wojciechowski

MY BOY TONY
ADAPTED FROM RUDYARD KIPLING’S POEM “MY BOY JACK”

Have you news of my boy Tony?
Not this time.
“When d’you think that he’ll come back?”
Not with this Iraq sand blowing, but in God’s time!

“Has anyone else had word of him?”
Not this time.
Not with this Iraq sand blowing, but in God’s time!

“Oh, dear, what comfort can I find?”
None this time,
Nor any human time, but in God’s time!
Except he did not shame his kind
Not with this Iraq sand blowing, nor in God’s time!

Then hold your head up all the more,
This time,
And every time;
Because he was the son you bore and loved,
And he gave to the American people in our time!

Dear Friends,

I just wanted to share this poem with you. Rudyard Kipling’s son, Jack, was declared missing in WWI and was never found. I took the liberty of changing Kipling’s poem for Tony Wojciechowski.
