The Wall Street Journal reported the following: A Utah Department of Public Safety spokesman said Wednesday evening that nobody was in custody for the shooting of Charlie Kirk. The first suspect taken into custody after the shooting was George Zinn, who Utah law enforcement said was released because he “was not an accurate person of interest.”

However, Zinn was booked into county jail for obstruction of justice. Utah DPS said the second suspect taken into custody, Zachariah Qureshi, was released after an interrogation. Neither person was connected to the shooting, DPS said. The agency said the shooting was likely a targeted attack. The Utah agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were leading the investigation, with local law enforcement assisting in the search for the shooter.
