Reader comments: Should have departed as soon as we found that Bin Laden was not hiding there. Is U. S. leadership dumber than the Russian leadership? The Russians dragged their butts out of there when it became apparent the venture was literally a dead end. We have not helped the Afghan people or its leadership gain stability. Civilizations cannot be forced into freedom/democracy.
