March For Life This Friday

Dear Watchman,

Given your interest in protecting the unborn, I wanted to share with you my support of the March for Life as well as my recent work on pro-life efforts.
This week, Americans from across the country will visit our nation's capital to stand up for life at the 44th annual March for Life. Since the first March for Life, hundreds of thousands of Americans have come to Washington, D.C. each January to stand up for the right to life for the unborn. Their message is twofold: innocent life is precious and deserving of protection, and Roe v. Wade should not stand.
If you will be traveling to Washington for the March for Life this Friday, January 27, please join other Ohioans for a reception that I am hosting with Congressman Jim Jordan at the conclusion of the march. Warm up and have a light lunch with fellow Ohioans in the Capitol Visitor Center, which is directly across from the Supreme Court and underneath the Capitol. The reception will be in the Congressional Meeting Room South (room 127) from   1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. I hope you can attend. Feel free to invite other Ohioans at the March. The March for Life is a time for Americans to come together from across the country and exercise their constitutional rights to speech, assembly, and petition on behalf of those who have been consistently denied any rights – the unborn. Our Founding Fathers recognized the value of life when they announced that all individuals “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” As citizens we have an obligation to ensure that that commitment continues to bear meaning today.
I am proud of my pro-life record throughout my time in public service. I have co-sponsored pro-life measures, including the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act to permanently prohibit federal funding of abortion, and the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, which would allow a health plan to decline coverage of things like abortion that go against the religious or moral beliefs of the person or organization offering or purchasing the plan. I also cosponsored and voted in support of a Planned Parenthood defunding bill, S.1881, to ensure that taxpayer dollars would no longer be available to Planned Parenthood while simultaneously safeguarding women’s health by redirecting funds to other facilities that provide health services to women, including state and county health departments, community health centers, hospitals, and physicians’ offices. It is support for this kind of legislation, along with a unified pro-life voice, that is critical for protecting the unborn, and I look forward to joining you at this year’s March for Life to continue in this effort. I salute all Ohioans who are traveling to Washington this week or will be participating in events in their local communities to stand for the unborn. Thank you for your compassion and commitment.
