Prayers For Gilad Shalit

We Americans know the horror of having our military men and women held captive by an enemy that does not subscribe to the rules of the Geneva Convention. This has to be a nightmare for Shalit's family, relatives and friends.

When IDF soldier Gilad Shalit was captured in late June of 2006, the Rabbis interceding for his release asked us to join them in praying Psalm 121 over his safety. I ask that you join me in praying this Psalm everyday this week in the spirit of unity with our Jewish friends on behalf of Gilad’s release.

Psalm 121 The LORD the Keeper of Israel.

1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD,Who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not allow your foot to slip;He who keeps you will not slumber.

4 Behold, He who keeps IsraelWill neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun will not smite you by day,Nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will protect you from all evil;He will keep your soul.

8 The LORD will guard your going out and your coming inFrom this time forth and forever.
